THE STATE OF NATURE

THE STATE OF NATURE is a series of drawings and bookworks that consider declining biodiversity and climate change in the British Isles.

It focuses upon the flora that is prevalent in the artist’s locale with extracted sections that represent the unique pieces of genetic information that are under threat because of human activity.

Each work explores this while emphasising the fact that it is within our hands to halt decline and enable regeneration. Codes can be replaced and tipping points moved or removed. Some pieces act as indentured documents meaning that people can come together to reunite divided pieces of information.
