Margins
Margins I, II and III are a series of boxed sets of drawings that explore the tension between the organic and the man-made with a focus on the boundaries between these opposing forces.
Formal shapes are taken from details in classical garden design, architecture and applied design and these are adorned with drawings of lichens that in themselves become decorative and ornate.
Careful consideration is made of all edges within the work and these are treated in a range of ways – including cutting, tearing and scalloping in order to draw attention to them and to create different boundaries at the extremities of the drawings and folios themselves.
Margins I was exhibited at ‘Udkant: On the Margins’, Fourth Doverodde Book Arts Festival, Denmark, 2012.
