Herbarium is a research project that combines plant collection and study in the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh Herbarium. Hyslop is fascinated by the manner in which herbarium specimens are collected and presented and in response has created her own paper herbarium. Plants were collected and catalogued through drawing, etching and printing. The printed works were painstakingly cut to create paper specimens that were then collated in a large one-off book. Specimens were also mounted individually and a selection of these were purchased by Yale Center for British Art and exhibited in the exhibition Of Green Leaf, Bird and Flower: Artists’ Books and the Natural World, Yale Center for British Art, 2014.
