The Intelligence of the Flowers

Made in a limited edition of 350 copies this artist’s book was created in response to Maurice Maeterlink’s book of the same title which was published in Paris in 1907. Hyslop’s new work contains reproductions of a series of twelve pochoir prints made 2019 – 26 which were inspired by Maeterlinck’s extraordinary poetic and romantic language that he uses to describe the life of the flowers. The Intelligence of the Flowers also includes an introduction, and the plates are accompanied by a selection of carefully chosen extracts from the text.

Made with assistance from Dr Bryony Randall and graphic design by Colin Faulks.
